Telford Hamfest & G-QRP Convention 2017

Sunday 3rd September 2017

DESPITE INDIFFERENT WEATHER, THE EVENT CONTINUED THE SUCCESS OF PREVIOUS YEARS. IF YOU MISSED THE G-QRP BUILDATHON EVENT ON SATURDAY , WE HOPE TO REPEAT THE ARRANGEMENTS NEXT YEAR.
PROVISIONAL DATES:-

Saturday 1st September 2018: G-QRP social and Buildathon (Venue tba)
Sunday 2nd September 2018: Telford HamFest at Enginuity, Coalbrookdale.

Telford & District A.R.S. are proud that the 12th Telford Hamfest has taken place on Sunday 3rd September 2017, co-ordinated with the G-QRP Convention which has now transferred to Telford this year for the very first time. We are indebted to the famous Ironbridge Gorge Museum Trust’s Staff at Enginuity.
A list of Exhibitors can be found on the left hand Navigation Menu. As Bookings are made, this will be updated daily. The HamFest opening time will be 10:15.
The Special Features page is also worth checking out as we had a great guest speaker last year - Noel Matthews G8GTZ, who was greatly involved in the ARISS project 2015/16. This year, we are delighted that Dave Pick, G3YXM, has agreed to present "21 years of LF: a potted history of UK Low Frequency operation". Also Dom Baines M1KTA will speak on the topic "QRP and making antennas when in DX". Finally, Paul Darlington M0XPD has chosen to speak on the slightly cryptic topic "The Little Rigs That Could". So there's something there for everyone !
Our thanks to G-QRP club for providing the latter two speakers. All three are well known presenters, and have often appeared in print.

A few years ago we started a 'Flea Market' in the outdoor area. More sellers took advantage of this facility last year. Tables are available at just £10 each on a first-come-first served basis. An advance phone call to Martyn on 01952 255416 would be very helpful in planning space.

Enginuity, right next door, is a fantastic ‘Hands on Technology’ Centre, which invites visitors of all ages and interests to roll up their sleeves and get involved, with a special admission discount of about 30% for all people attending the Hamfest. Also the Museum Trust have recently opened a completely refurbished 'Museum of Iron' on the same site - another place well worth visiting.

The Committee and club at TDARS are working hard in preparation for this year's event. The site offers more than just a traditional radio rally venue and we have developed a good reputation both for our exhibitors, but also the location and local attractions. The 2016 event saw continued high visitor levels, testament to the quality of traders and venue.
The venue is just a few minutes (4 miles) journey south from the M54 (J6) at Telford and from other trunk roads.(Main parking Postcode TF8 7DU). See location tab for detailed directions.
PARK AND RIDE FOR 2017. This regular bus service costs just £1 (free to bus-pass holders and children) and operates during the holidays near the roundabout at the top of Jigger's Bank (A4169 - postcode TF4 3QE which is the normal route to Enginuity/Museum of Iron. It takes you into the site itself; first bus 9am. Return pick-up is on the main road just outside the HamFest (Enginuity/Museum of Iron) site. Highly recommended!
The free parking at the Aga works is still fully available to visitors, but some folk say it is a bit of an uphill walk to the HamFest entrance. See also the 'Location' page. It may suit some visitors to drop off passengers at the site entrance before parking down at the Aga car park site a short distance away.

From feedback and given our experience over the years, almost all available space will be booked prior to the event. We anticipate that a good day will be had by all. You are welcome to respond on Twitter (@g3zme) or Facebook (telfordhams).
